👍 Sawada Coffee’s Hojicha Matcha: A Roasty Dessert Latte

If you’re in the mood for a unique twist on matcha, head over to Sawada Coffee in Chicago for their roasted matcha. But I’d recommend it as an iced latte with oat milk (minus the house made vanilla syrup). It’s easily the best matcha I’ve had from Sawada, with flavors of chocolate and umami. However, I wouldn’t go out of my way to return due to consistently unfriendly staff and their grainy matcha powder. But hey, at least they no longer have a dedicated matcha-only shop to give people the wrong impression.

The moral of this story: We’ve had this drink a few times. It’s good for a summer pick-me-up. But don’t drive to Sawada, parking is difficult. And don’t expect to get in and out, they usually take way too long to make their decent drinks.
