MK Matcha drop on Sugoi’s website – MokomaTea
Editor’s note: Verified! Local Chicago chocolate and tea shop (best place to buy matcha powder in Chicago) (also best matcha ice cream in Chicago!) is selling matcha tins online right now. Not sure how long they will or how much is available, but super helpful if you need to order online! https://sugoisweets.com/collections/matcha

Went to Postcard in West Loop
Visually appealing but lacking in matcha knowledge. Seems like it might be a “hype spot” with matcha as an add on to the menu. The matcha is stored on glass (light exposure; a no-no) and the acoustics are confusing (speakers facing glass and elevated in a narrow room). Both red flags. More show than substance?

Pretty floral matcha @ Capital one Café/verve coffee
My guess is that they’re using Chinese Matcha because the actual powder itself has a very floral taste. A lot like Rose may be a hint of jasmine. Taste reminiscent of a Chinese green tea cultivar.

La Colombe now has matcha!
La Colombe now has matcha!
@E-R-R • Update: It’s true, we checked it out… La Colombe shops are now serving matcha. They’re using the barista/house blend by Rishi tea. And at the two cafes we’ve visited, they were pouring boiling water over it. So, drink at your own risk. Rishi matcha is pretty forgiving, so it won’t be awful, just maybe a little bitter.
